While on this topic, one of the most amazing biographies is 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks' about a woman whose cells transformed the history of modern medicine. A poor African American woman, Lacks' suffered from cervical cancer. Her cells (later known as HeLa after her) were taken, without her knowledge, for medical testing. Her cancer cells are the source of the HeLa cell line, the first immortalized human cell line, which reproduces indefinitely under specific conditions and have changed the course of cancer treatment forever.
Her story was turned into a 2017 movie, starring and co-produced by Oprah Winfrey.
